As a young woman who grew up playing football, I have personally seen the growth of women's football, from the look of shock on boys faces when I told them I play football, to the even bigger shock when they realised I wasn't half bad at it either! To now - a time when the women's national team players are household names. For me, football helped me to gain confidence, learn about commitment to a team, and develop physically, mentally, socially and morally. In a world where things are often uncertain, football was my one certainty, something which always made me feel good about myself. I would love to be able to give that feeling of belonging and pride to other aspiring female footballers.
